Sustainability from the heart

Our love for nature shapes our daily lives, both in the garden and throughout our home.

For our family, nature is not just a backdrop; it is the very foundation of life and we take our responsibility towards it to heart. That is why we have embraced a lifestyle and way of working close to nature and environmentally conscious for many years.
Our hotel is heated by our own woodchip heating system, which uses 100% timber sourced from our own forest. This ensures that the warmth stays exactly where it belongs: at the heart of our home.
Around 30% of our energy needs are covered by a modern photovoltaic system that harnesses the sun’s energy directly from our rooftop.
We also care about sustainable travel: the bus stop is right next to the Hubertusstube, so our guests can arrive comfortably by public transport and actively help protect the environment.
Equally important are the natural delicacies from our own vegetable and fruit garden. Grandpa Urban and his son Ivan tend the orchards and vegetable plots with dedication, while Grandma Hanni and grandchildren Vera, Manuel and Alex help enthusiastically help with the harvest.
The warm climate of Laion is perfect for growing a wide variety of fruit and vegetables, including potatoes, tomatoes, courgettes, salads, plums, apples, nuts and herbs. They are freshly harvested and served to our guests while still in season.
We create excellent juices with herbs from our garden. Seasonal fruit is preserved in homemade jams.
The high-quality game meat used in our dishes is sourced by our family hunters, who treat both animals and nature with great respect.
For us, sustainability begins with appreciation: appreciation of nature, of our resources and of what we create with our own hands.
